Welcome to “Highmark Wisdom Teeth & Oral Surgery”! We are happy to serve you for your oral surgical needs with a focus on patient care and comfort. We are conveniently located at 822 S. Hastings Way, Eau Claire, WI 54701.
Our sole practitioner, Dr. Karen Potaczek started this oral surgery practice after moving back to Wisconsin to be closer to her hometown of Medford WI. Prior to returning to Wisconsin, Dr. Potaczek had a successful practice with three locations for the past twelve years in NW Iowa and SW Minnesota. Dr. Potaczek has state of the art equipment in our newly remodeled Eau Claire facility.
Prior to starting her business in NW IA/SW MN, Dr. Potaczek worked for several years in the Quad Cities’ Davenport, WI. She also has taught part-time at the University of Iowa Oral Surgery Clinic for several years.
Dr. Potaczek is unique in that she has had several years of experience in dentistry as a dental assistant working for a periodontist as well as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon in Milwaukee WI prior to going to dental school–so her experience and training goes ‘way back’.
Dr. Potaczek graduated summa cum laude from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biomedical Sciences. She was Valedictorian of her graduating dental class from Marquette University School of Dentistry. In 2010, Dr. Potaczek completed her four year residency in Oral Surgery at University of Cincinnati Medical Center where she had several research interests dealing with bone grafting and dental implant placement, sedation and anesthesia, and facial trauma. She is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
With her relocation to Eau Claire, she is excited to be able to serve the local communities that she grew up enjoying. She states “It is so great to be back in Wisconsin and to provide specialty care to Wisconsin! I look forward to meeting you and serving you as part of this community.” Outside of work, Dr. Potaczek enjoys outdoor activities such as motor-tricycling throughout beautiful Wisconsin and walking her bichon frise and Shih-poo dogs.”
